You will see big dogs (Anatolian Shepherds / Kangal mixes) sleeping on hotel terraces or following hikers.
Community Dogs:
Most are “owned” by the town or specific hotels. They are well-fed and friendly.
Hiking Buddies:
It is very common for a dog to join you on your hike in Rose Valley. They know the way better than you! They often accompany tourists for 2-3 hours just for company (and maybe a treat).
Kangals: If you see a HUGE dog with a spiked collar, that is a Kangal (Sheepdog). They are gentle giants but protect their flock. Don’t approach a flock of sheep without the shepherd’s permission.
